Here are the last two days of our Adventure!

Day 4
From the Holy Heroes email:
Today is all about obedience--even if it is not obvious right away. It's especially about obedience to your parents. It begins right in the rosary today: the 2nd Luminous Mystery, the Wedding Feast at Cana. Listen when you pray, and listen carefully for what Jesus does and what He and His mother say to each other. Then in the rest of the day, you'll start to see how it all fits together.

Then, learn about how every family is like a holy family, because Jesus hand-picks everyone in every family, just like He did for yours. And Margaret will show you a great way to practice sacrificing and showing love for your neighbors...especially those closest neighbors: your family.

Watching the Video on the Sacrament of Matrimony

Day 5

I had a camera issue so I only got one picture.

On the last day the children learned about the New Kingdom of David, made Saint Cupples, learned about the anointing of the sick, and made a really neat trail mix that summed up the Adventure! We have really enjoyed this and hope that these may inspire your family to participate too!

The kids had a blast making the Saint Cupples! Check out the Holy Spirit above Our Ladies head! Thanks Again Holy Heroes!

Blessings

Holy Heroes Summer Adventure Part 2

Day 3 of our Adventures!

Today the goal was to "teach children to appreciate the Eucharist from many different angles."

The videos covered King David and Solomon, Confession, and the Eucharist. The children made home-made prayer books, prayer knots (Yum), and played "Protect the Priest." Its not too late to sign up.........

Learning about King David and Solomon!
Today's song was our favorite. It was about the Eucharist!

Rita Chew is helping Fizz with her prayer book. We used our own holy cards rather than the images provided.

The kids added personal touches like stickers of the Saints.

They turned out great and the kids have been bringing them everyday to morning devotions.

Now time to make the prayer knots.........

Better than play dough!

Rita Chew sprinkled hers with Cinnamon sugar, but Jo Jo requested pretzel salt.

The finished product!

Yum!

Thanks Holy Heroes!

Blessings,

Maggie

Holy Heroes Summer Faith Adventure Part 1

I have been meaning to post these for the past two weeks. With losing John Edmund, visits from family, and getting ready for the school year I have not had a chance to down load the photos from the other camera. These are the photos from our first few days of the Holy Heroes Summer Faith Adventure..............We have had a blast and I recommend this to everyone. You can do this at your leisure, modify if necessary, its filled with solid faith formation, and best of all its free. Even better is the discount given to anyone who signs up for the program towards their wonderful products. I posted a few weeks back on how much I love their products. Check out that post here.

With each day we begin by watching a welcome video. Then we pray a Decca of the Rosary (these are the same ones that come from the wonderful Rosary CDs) and Sing the days song. Then we watch one or two videos, do a craft, color pages and word searches, make a snack, and play a game. Each day ends with the Angelus at noon. We did not do these in one week. Instead we took our time and did them every other day.

Day 1

Keys and Crown cookies...........Yum!

We rolled the dough and shaped it into keys and then cut the crowns free hand.

The kids loved making the Pope Hats! The girls gave theirs to brothers and their father.

Jo Jo with his hat!

Day 2

Rita Chew, Jo Jo, Shoo, and the Fizz show off their Stain glass window crafts!

Now these were loads of fun! Stain Glass window cookies!

Even the Bobster got in on the action!

With a little help from Dad of course!

Didn't they come out darling!

Days 3-5 coming soon!

Blessings,

Maggie ;)

Holy Heroes Summer Faith Adventure

Last year I read a post on one of my favorite blogs Shower of Roses by Jessica about the Holy Heroes Lenten Adventure. We signed up and decided to try it. What an awesome experience it was for my children. We have always been fans of the Glory Stories, so we were familiar with some of the products. My father bought the complete set of Holy Heroes Rosary CD's for Shooby for her First Communion. They are fabulous! I can't say enough about the Altar Gang CD's. We love to listen to them in the car as we travel.

Well Holy Heroes has done it again with a week long at home VBS free to anyone who signs up. It is full of games, crafts, a snack, bible and catechism lessons emailed right to your inbox. My kids are having a blast and we will post pictures this week. Its not too late to sign up so go to Holy Heroes and sign up for their Summer Faith Adventure.
God Bless, Maggie
