Jo Jo is studying ancient Mesopotamia right now so he built a little replica of little city. Scale is a bit off, but I thing the Shaduf and mini farm he put outside the gate is great. We just used salt dough and painted it with acrylic paints. We talked about how the city of Jericho would have been similar to this one but with an extremely tall and thick wall.
He added a taller building inside for a lookout tower and several small blocks to represent homes. He painted doors on the ceilings because people would have entered from the roof. Not bad for a 1st grader. (I tied the shaduf together)Blessings,
